User Guide

This comprehensive guide will walk you through using Qwello's features and functionality.

Interface Overview

The Qwello interface is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, with a clean layout that provides access to all features.

Main Interface Components

  1. Navigation Sidebar: Access different sections of the application

  2. Knowledge Graph Library: View your generated knowledge graphs

  3. Knowledge Graph Visualization: Interactive visualization of document knowledge

  4. Entity Details Panel: View detailed information about selected entities

  5. Search and Filter Widget: Search for entities and apply filters

  6. User Settings: Access account settings and preferences

  7. History: View your past searches and queries.

Navigation Sidebar

The sidebar provides access to the main sections of Qwello:

  • Home: Dashboard with recent activity and quick access to documents

  • Library: Access generated reports for your documents

  • New Thread: Start a new deep research query

  • History: Document library with all uploaded documents and previous threads

  • Settings: Configure application settings and preferences or logout

Generating Reports

Report Types

Qwello can generate several types of reports:

  1. Executive Summary: High-level overview of the document content

  2. Entity Analysis: Detailed examination of important entities

  3. Relationship Analysis: Analysis of significant connections

  4. Topic Clusters: Identification of related concept groups

  5. Custom Reports: User-defined report configurations

Generating a Report

To generate a report:

  1. Click the "+ New Thread" or "Homepage" button in the sidebar

  2. Type in your query or simply click on "Choose File" to select files from your device

  3. Click on the green arrow button located on the right of the query input field or click "Open" respectivley

  4. Wait for the report generation to complete or continue to the Uploading Doctuments section if you uploaded a document instead.

Viewing Threads

To view a generated report:

  1. Navigate to the "History" section in the sidebar

  2. Find the thread you want to view

  3. Click on the thread to open it

Uploading Documents

Supported Document Types

Qwello primarily supports PDF documents, with the following characteristics:

  • File Size: Up to 30MB per document

  • Page Count: No strict limit, but processing time increases with page count

  • Content Types: Text, images, tables, diagrams, and mathematical formulas

  • Languages: Support for major languages (English, Spanish, French, German, etc.)

Upload Process

To upload a document:

  1. Click the "Choose File" button in the Homepage

  2. Select the PDF document from your computer and click "Open" to start the processing

  3. Optionally, you can drag and drop it into the upload area to also start the processing

Processing Status

After uploading, you'll see your progress bar of the KG generation, there are three states:

  1. Processing Knowledge Graph: Document is being processed, with progress indicators for each PDF and stage:

    • PDF validation and optimization

    • Image conversion

    • Text extraction

    • Knowledge graph generation

  2. Report generation: Your KG is being processed, with progress indicators for each PDF and stage

  3. Completed: Processing is complete, and the document is ready for exploration

  4. Error: Processing encountered an error (with details and retry options)

Exploring Knowledge Graphs

Opening a Knowledge Graph

To open a knowledge graph:

  1. Navigate to the "Library" section on the sidebare

  2. Find the thread you want to explore

  3. Click on thread's card to open its knowledge graph

Navigation Controls

The knowledge graph visualization provides several navigation controls:

  • Zoom: Use the mouse wheel or pinch gesture to zoom in/out

  • Pan: Click and drag to move around the graph

  • Select: Click on entities to select them

  • Expand/Collapse: Double-click on entities to expand or collapse their connections

  • Reset View: Click the "Fit" button to reset the view to show the entire graph

Entity Types and Colors

Entities in the knowledge graph are color-coded by type:

  • Concept: Blue

  • Person: Red

  • Organization: Yellow

  • Location: Green

  • Technology: Purple

  • Method: Orange

  • Event: Brown

  • Document: Blue Grey

  • Product: Cyan

  • Time: Pink

Entity Details

When you select an entity, the Entity Details panel shows:

  1. Basic Information:

    • Entity name

    • Entity type

  2. Attributes:

    • Entity ID

    • All attributes associated with the entity

    • Page references where the entity is mentioned

    • Source

Searching and Filtering

Search Functionality

The search bar allows you to find specific entities:

  1. Type a search term in the search bar

  2. Results will highlight matching entities in the graph

  3. The entity list will filter to show only matching entities

  4. Click on a result to select that entity in the graph

Filtering Options

The filter panel provides several ways to filter the knowledge graph:

Entity Type Filters:

  • Show/hide entities of specific category

  • Adjust the visibility of different entity types

Exporting Your Library

Document Actions

Each document in the library has several available actions:

  1. Open: Open the document's knowledge graph

  2. Download PDF: View the original source PDF document(s) or reffer to the Batch Operations section if you have uploaded multiple files

  3. Reports: Access generated reports for the document

  4. Download Knowledge Graph: Export the knowledge graph in JSON format

Batch Operations

For downloading multiple documents:

  1. Click on "Download Sources"

  2. Select multiple documents using checkboxes

  3. Use the batch "Download" button at the top of the pop up menu to downlaod them all at once or click on the download icon to the right of each souce to download the files individually

Querying Knowledge Graphs

Natural Language Queries

Qwello supports natural language queries against knowledge graphs:

  1. Open a thread's knowledge graph by clicking on its card

  2. Type your question in natural language

  3. Click green arrow button to process the query

  4. View the results, which include:

    • Direct answer to your question

    • Supporting evidence from the document

    • Relevant entities & references highlighted in the graph for verification

Query Examples

Examples of effective queries:

  • "What are the main challenges mentioned in the document?"

  • "How does concept X relate to concept Y?"

  • "Which organizations are associated with technology Z?"

  • "What methods were used in the research described?"

  • "What is the connection between the systems X and Y and how do they intersect in terms of Z?"
